Under the Sonar Charters focuses on providing excellent hunting and fishing experiences on the beautiful eastern shore of Virginia.
We operate out of a top of the line brand new Carolina skiff and focus hard on putting our clients on birds day in and day out. Captain Hunter is young and determined and wants his clients to succeed.
Chincoteague has one of the largest varieties of waterfowl the Atlantic flyway has to offer, from puddle ducks in the potholes to rafts of sea ducks on the flats.
The true prize of Chincoteague is the black duck and the brant. Hunters come from all over to target these two species, and most are lucky enough to harvest both in the same hunt.
A Morning on the Flyway
A hunt in Chincoteague is truly remarkable in variety of birds and vastness of hunting possibilities. Puddle ducks in the potholes, rafts of sea ducks on the flats, and the brant and black duck that people travel for.

A-frame blind, seats six
The blind the puddle duck mornings run out of. When the birds move to open water the hunt moves with them and shifts to the skiff.
Where We Hunt

Rafts of sea ducks, plus brant, bluebill and black scoter once the birds start trading on bigger water.
Out of Chincoteague and Saxis, Virginia, hunting the Eastern Shore and the big water of the Chesapeake.
